The international campaign for the immediate release of all prisoners of conscience in the United Arab Emirates.
About 64 prisoners are held to date in the UAE prisons. Several others are in arbitrary detention without trial having been enforced disappearances and their families have no information on their whereabouts. They need our solidarity.
Executives, lawyers, journalists, teachers, judges, civil servants, civil libertarians or dignitaries, some of them are in prison for several years, in general indifference. Some were sentenced to several years in prison. Emirati abuses in prisons and torture are commonplace.
The UAE government has also, foreign prisoners: British, American, Qatari, Egyptian, Yemenite, Libyan … etc. They are imprisoned for criticizing the regime or membership of a country in conflict or disagreement with the UAE, or links with dissidents or reformers.
As part of the campaign for the release of prisoners of conscience in the UAE, the ICJHR will host an information stand in the Place of Nations Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 11h to 14h.
