The International Center for Justice and Human Rights (ICJHR) is a Swiss NGO based in Geneva created to promote and defend human rights in the Gulf region. The ICJHR works closely with the United Nations (UN) special procedures and human rights mechanisms at the international and regional level.
To this end, the ICJHR is looking for an intern to work as:


A human rights researcher
6 months

Role
1.    Gather information on human rights issues in the Gulf region from various sources
2.    Draft urgent actions and communications addressed to the UN special procedures
3.    Prepare working documents based on international conventions and text analysis
4.    Attend and report from relevant human rights meetings and events taking place in Geneva
5.    Maintain permanent relationships with the working groups, special rapporteurs and permanent missions in Geneva
6.    Assist with the organization of events for our NGO
Other tasks will be planned according to the needs of the organization in relation to the skills and the profile of the candidate.

Required profile
•    University degree in human rights, international relations, international law, political science or development studies
•    Good knowledge of the UN system and its human rights mechanisms
•    Fluency in English and French is required as well as good analytical, drafting and editing skills in English.
•    Ability to translate documents from English into French and vice versa
•    Good ability to synthesize current events and understand the political, social and human rights situation in the Arab countries
•    Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and overall computer skills. Experience with social media required
•    Motivated and aware of the challenges of defending human rights in a culturally different contextThe candidate will receive a stipend (600 CHF per month) during the internship
